In this paper a new species of Brachypelma from Mexico, Brachypelma schroederi sp. n., is described. A division of the genus in two groups without any intention on systematics is proposed: the "emilia"-complex, containing colorfull spiders, and the "vagans"-complex consisting of species characterized by the more or less monotone coloration of their integuments.
